The story

A Singapore batter built on patience and resolve, Udbhav has learned to turn good starts into big scores, with 27 half-centuries and a career-best 110.

Udbhav found cricket almost by chance. At seven, his school required every student to take up an extra-curricular activity. His father suggested cricket, and he has been hooked ever since.

His proudest moment is his first century, 110 from 97 balls. It came after a run of single-digit scores, and he is proudest of the way he fought back from that rough patch. It also marked the biggest change in his game: where he once got in and gave his wicket away, he now converts good starts into big scores. He has 27 half-centuries to his name and averaged 59.17 on an overseas tour of the UK.

Udbhav has represented Singapore at the ACC U16 Men's East Zone. Cricket in Singapore is still seen by many as a recreational sport, with too few grounds and facilities, but he has every intention of taking his cricket well beyond Singapore.

His goals are to represent Singapore and score big runs on the international stage, then move on to Australian domestic and franchise cricket. He lives by Samuel Beckett's words: “Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.”
