The story

A Singapore all-rounder and SEA Games gold medallist, Thiyanesh is a fiery, destructive right-hander who can take a game away in a handful of overs, and a fast-medium bowler known for his deception.

Cricket runs in the family. Thiyanesh's mother has loved the game since she was young, and her passion led his elder brother to take it up at school. Watching how much cricket meant to both of them, Thiyanesh picked up a bat himself in 2016, and he has played with the same passion ever since.

Known to everyone as Thi, he is a batter who changes games in a handful of overs. His highest score is 94 from just 46 balls, his fastest knock an unbeaten 89 from 28, and he struck eight fifties in 2026 alone. He finished 2025–26 as the leading run-scorer for SCC Pumas in Division 5, and was both the leading run-scorer and the leading wicket-taker for SNCA West Coast in the 10-Over Championship. With the ball, his right-arm fast-medium is built on deception, with best figures of 2/13 in a T20 International.

His proudest moment came at the 2023 SEA Games, where he was part of Singapore's final squad of eight that won gold in the Men's Sixes, and he added bronze medals in the Men's T10 and T20I events at the same Games. Having come through the national U19 ranks at the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup Asia qualifiers and the ACC U19 Premier Cup, he has since represented Singapore at the 2026 Asian Games Qualifiers and the Asia Pacific Cricket Champions Trophy.

The road back was not easy. At 14, a serious head injury suffered on the field kept him out of the game for months, and returning meant facing down the fear of getting hurt again. Overcoming that fear, he says, was the hardest thing he has done in the game.

He has built his game in conditions that test commitment: training facilities in Singapore are limited and not always accessible, and the island's frequent rain makes planning sessions a constant challenge.

His goals are clear: to keep representing Singapore and make a greater impact on the national team's success, and to become a more reliable, consistent batting all-rounder who can anchor the innings at the top of the order or provide the cameos that finish it.

Keep calm and trust Thi.
