OnkarTarmale

Onkar Tarmale was born on 22 August 2002 in Shere, a village in Maharashtra's Thane district. Like many of the region's fast bowlers, he learned the game playing tennis-ball cricket, and only switched to the leather ball at 18. The pace was there from the start: in local Mumbai tournaments he was regularly clocking around 140 km/h.

His breakthrough came in the T20 Mumbai League with Eagle Thane Strikers, where he was mentored by former India fast bowler Dhawal Kulkarni. His performances earned him selection for Mumbai across formats in the 2025–26 season.

He made his List A debut in December 2025 against Uttarakhand in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, taking 2/40 as Mumbai won by 51 runs. A month later he made his first-class debut in the Ranji Trophy against Hyderabad, taking 2/48 in his first innings.

That same December, at the IPL mini-auction in Abu Dhabi, Sunrisers Hyderabad signed him for INR 30 lakh, on the recommendation of their bowling coach Varun Aaron.

He returned to the T20 Mumbai League in 2026 and made an immediate impact, opening the season with 3/28 against Bandra Blasters. Then, at the Wankhede Stadium against Aakash Tigers MWS, he took a hat-trick, removing Varun Lavande, Akash Anand and Ajit Yadav in consecutive balls. It was only the second hat-trick in the league's history.

From tennis-ball cricket in Thane to Mumbai colours and an IPL contract in a few short years, Onkar is SKTB's headline athlete.
